External Hard Drive for Storing Photos 8TB USB 3.0 Portable Durable Plastic Plug and Play No Adapter | Sansoti

External hard drive for storing your photos, 8TB

Photo libraries only grow in one direction. A few years' worth of RAW files and 4K video can fill a laptop drive before you know it, and then the sorting begins: what do you delete to make room? With 8TB, you don't have to — that's enough for thousands of RAW files and hundreds of hours of video side by side on a single drive. The USB 3.0 interface transfers a full memory card in minutes instead of taking all evening, and the drive is plug and play: connect it and copy your files, with no installation or separate power supply needed, since it draws power through the USB cable. The casing is made of durable plastic, and the drive is pocket-sized, about the size of a phone.

Why it's ideal for a photo archive

• 8TB of space: No need to choose which shoot to keep; everything fits on one drive.
• USB 3.0 speed: Transferring everything from a memory card after a shoot takes minutes, not all evening.
• No separate power supply: Power comes through the USB cable, so just one cable and you're ready.
• Pocket-sized: Fits in a camera bag alongside a camera body and lens, for archiving on location.
• Durable plastic: Protects against bumps and scratches in a bag you take with you every day.
• USB 2.0 compatible: Also works with older laptops and desktops without an adapter.

How to organize a photo archive on one drive

With eight terabytes, you have room to keep RAW files and exports separate, making them much quicker to find later: one folder per year, then one per shoot, and within each shoot a subfolder for originals and one for edited files. Keep in mind that one drive isn't a backup — for work you can't recreate, it's always wise to keep a second copy, for example on a second copy of this drive stored elsewhere. Thanks to its compact size and lack of a separate power supply, that's practical too: two drives still fit in the same bag.
